The Office of Research has formed several committees/councils to advise and make recommendations on the overall research governance for Alfaisal University.
The KACST/Alfaisal Research Committee focuses on research areas and topics of mutual interest, mainly in engineering and technology fields. The Committee is responsible for recommending the structure of the collaboration between Alfaisal Faculty and KACST researchers.
The University Research Council, which is chaired by the Vice President for Research, is responsible for recommending proposals for internal research funding and for evaluating applications for conference attendance and for sabbatical leaves. Members include the Provost, Associate Vice President for Research and College Deans or their representatives.
The Advisory Research Committee serves in a consultative capacity to the OOR
on issues pertaining to research priorities and structure of the Office and
measuring office performance. It is composed of local and international
members from different disciplines and research backgrounds. Members of the
Committee include faculty from the University or experts with similar
ranking from external entities.
Committee functions include conducting reviews and approvals of grants in
addition to serving as an advisory board for the University in identifying
focus and strategic areas of research that are in accordance with and serve
the institution’s vision and mission.
