Research Interests:

  • Development of decision modeling frameworks in the areas of logistics and preventive maintenance.

Current Research Project:

  • Multi-facility location and sizing
We aim to develop decision models that would yield a multi-facility location and sizing plan considering reliability, production and distribution factors to optimize various key performance criteria. The framework will integrate multi-objective qualitative decision models such as the analytic hierarchy process (AHP), quantitative analysis via computer simulation and mathematical programming along with geographic information systems (GIS). Some of the applications include minimizing the shortages of medical isotopes such as occurred when a nuclear reactor was shut down after a leak was discovered in May 2009, and helping governments develop a coherent industrial diversification strategy by maximizing the performance of supply chains in targeted industries.
