Senior Academic Positions – Pre-clinical Sciences
Alfaisal University is an independent, private, not-for-profit Saudi Arabian
university established in 2004 by the King Faisal Foundation along with
other Saudi and foreign co-founders. Alfaisal University is a self-governing
internationally recognized institution offering education programs and
conducting research in Engineering, Science, Business and Medicine. The
university will eventually enroll 4,000 male and female students across
these disciplines. The campus of the new university is situated on the
beautiful and historic grounds of the late King Faisal’s Palace in Al
Maather district of Riyadh, the capital city of Saudi Arabia.
Planning for the launch of the new College of Medicine is well underway and
the first students will enroll in October 2008 after completion of a
specially designed University Preparation Program. Key relationships for
clinical teaching have been established with the King Faisal Specialist
Hospital and Research Center and other leading centers in Riyadh. Alfaisal
University is collaborating with a number of eminent international
universities during the planning phases for the disciplines of study.
Alfaisal University now seeks to appoint several senior leaders in the
pre-clinical sciences to form the foundation faculty for the College of
Medicine.
Qualifications
- Candidates for the positions must have a PhD or equivalent in a scientific discipline relevant to the study of medicine.
- The applicant should have substantial experience in teaching medicine at a preclinical level and/or biological sciences, preferably with experience in leading development of curriculum initiatives.
- Applicants should also have a strong record of
research in a relevant discipline and be interested and have demonstrated
capacity to work in a highly dynamic, exciting and collaborative
environment.
Responsibilities
Successful applicants will play a key role in the planning and inception of the teaching and learning programs of the College of Medicine. Individuals appointed to these key positions will lead by example in teaching excellence and mentorship for junior faculty and students. The conduct of high quality scientific research in a relevant discipline will also be expected and support for such work is available.
Conditions of Appointment
An attractive internationally competitive remuneration and benefits package will be negotiated along with relocation allowances.
