Curriculum Vitae


Dr. Rabab’ah is currently an Associate Professor of English at Alfaisal University. Upon graduation with a PhD in Linguistics from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, UK., he joined Etisalat Academy in Dubai in Dec. 2001. He designed and taught a variety of courses, such as Report Writing, Memo Writing, English for Sales and Marketing, and Technical English. After resignation in 2003, Dr. Rabab’ah joined King Saud University in Riyadh. He taught a wide range of undergraduate and graduate courses, such as Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, second Language Acquisition, Language Testing, Phonetics, Syllabus Design, Technology and Language Teaching, Techniques of Language Teaching, Composition, and Listening and Speaking. With regard to postgraduate research experience, he examined several MA theses, and supervised a few MA students.

In Sept. 2006, Dr. Rabab’ah joined the Department of English Language and Literature at the University of Jordan, where he taught also at both undergraduate and graduate levels. In Sept. 2008, he transferred to the Department of Linguistics. He was involved in teaching some courses to undergraduate students, such as Linguistics, Translation, English for Law, Professional Writing and semantics.

As far as administrative experience is concerned, Dr. Rabab’ah served as Assistant Dean for Development for the academic year 2007-2008. Responsibilities included preparing the Faculty of Art's strategic plan, SWOT Analysis and Needs Analysis, and updating the Faculty of Arts’ Website. Besides, he was responsible for preparing the strategic training plan for the administrative staff and faculty members' development and career advancement. Between 2008 and 2009, he served as Assistant Dean for Student Affairs. Responsibilities included assisting the Dean of the Faculty of Arts in all matters related to students’ registration, problems and concerns, and coordinating all the issues related to registration between the with departments, the Faculty of Arts' Deanship and the Registration.

Dr. Rabab’ah’s experience in using Computers in training is an advantage, too. He has supervised Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) labs, and has used a variety of CALL software, such as PLATO, ENGLISH EXPRESS, NEW DYNAMIC ENGLISH, CLARITY, and BBC ENGLISH, and I used internet based training materials (online).

Dr. Rabab’ah is well-published. He has published more than 12 papers in linguistics, TESL and EFL in national and international refereed journals, such as International Journal of Applied Linguistics, Journal of Language and Learning, Poznan Studies in Contemporary Linguistics, and Babel: International Journal of Translation. Moreover, he edited the special issue of Indian Journal of Applied Linguistics on Strategies in Learning and Using English as a Foreign/Second Language. This issue was published in January 2008. He also published a book titled: Writing: A course book (2004), which is currently used for teaching composition in the English Department at King Saud University and other universities in Saudi Arabia.
