M. Salhieh
Assistant professor of Industrial Engineering,
Curriculum Vitae
Sa’Ed M. Salhieh is an assistant professor of Industrial Engineering at Alfaisal
University. He is specialized in new product development.
Dr. Salhieh has a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Jordan University of
Science and Technology in Jordan, a M.Sc. in Industrial and Systems Engineering
from the University of Michigan – Dearborn in USA, and a PhD. in Industrial
Engineering from Wayne State University in USA.
Dr. Salhieh’s research is mainly motivated by the appreciation of the importance
of product development in the current competitive and global environment. He
strongly believes that companies nowadays need to develop new products or
services to survive and compete in the current turbulent marketplace;
consequently he always seeks to develop and implement solution methodologies in
the local industry. His primary research interests are modular design,
collaborative engineering, product development and information modeling. The
scope of his research involves using analytical and quantitative tools to
gather, analyze, and model information about customer needs and product
functions to engineer new products that can better meet customer demands. His
research extends to include developing novel solution methodologies to enhance
the product development process. His future research includes investigating new
avenues to address the fuzzy front end of the product design process. Currently
he is planning to develop methodologies using real options analysis, and logical
gates to address the problem of selecting new product concepts.
Dr. Salhieh has an established record in research where he has participated in
several funded research projects in USA and Jordan. These research projects
mainly address the different phases of product development. Dr. Salhieh has also
co-founded and serves as the director of the Product Design Laboratory at the
University of Jordan. Dr. Salhieh has many publications such as a co-authored
book entitled “Product Design for Modularity”. In addition his publications are
well cited in the literature of product development and mainly in the area of
Product Modularity and Collaborative Product Development.
