Dr.
Mohammed Kafaji, PhD,
Dr. Mohammed Kafaji has a PhD in engineering and computer simulations, MSc
in mathematical modeling, and BSc in science. He gained professional
certificates in IT and Business management: Oracle Certified Professional
(OCP), Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), Microsoft
Certified Professional (MCP), Project Management (IT Project+), and
Certified Information System Auditor (CISA). Dr. Kafaji works at the College
of Business as assistant professor for Management Information Systems and
Project Management. In addition to teaching undergraduate and postgraduate
students, Dr. Kafaji has strong consultancy experience coupled with wide
knowledge and experience in IT governance and management.
Dr. Kafaji has over 19 years of work experience, in the United Kingdom and
the Middle-East. His areas of expertise and research includes IT Governance,
Portfolio Management Office, Program/Project Management, Management
Information Systems, System & Business Analysis, System Selection, IT Audit,
Database Management, Business Continuity Management, Business Processes, and
Business Policies & Procedures. Dr. Kafaji developed and managed specialized
training courses in IT and business management. He conducted highly
specialized research projects in microprocessor analysis, electron
convergent beams, quantum dots, bi/multi-layered structures grown by MBE,
computer simulation of electrons-matter interactions, mapping of magnetic
surfaces, and nanostructure analysis. These research projects resulted in
the publication of over 40 papers in international journals and symposiums.
In addition to his academic and research expertise, Dr. Kafaji has strong
consultancy background gained from working with two of the big 4 firms;
Ernst & Young and KPMG. This enabled him to integrate people, process, and
technology to drive change and achieve strategic alignment with business
goals and objectives.
Prior to joining Alfaisal University, Dr. Kafaji worked in the UK at the
University of Sheffield, Banking Institutes in Oman and Bahrain, Ernest &
Young, and KPMG. He managed and delivered highly specialized and critical
projects while serving as Senior Lecturer, Head of IT Department, Acting
Director General, Senior Manager, and IT Director. These roles gave Mohammed
extensive leadership and project management skills in business and
information technology. Dr. Kafaji is an active member of Information
Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) and the Project Management
Institute (PMI).
