Accreditation

  1. Is Alfaisal accredited by MOHE?
    Alfaisal has received its initial accreditation from MOHE. Full accreditation will be conferred with the 1st graduating class.


  2. Is Alfaisal accredited by any International accreditation bodies?
    As with MOHE, our programs will receive accreditation with our 1st graduating class. Our programs are designed and will be implemented with the practices and elements deemed essential for accreditation by the international professional organizations that grant accreditation. The Engineering programs will be accredited by ABET, the American Board of Engineering and Technology. Our Business programs will be accredited by AACSB, The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. The Medical and Science programs will be in line with the licensure exams of Canada and the United States.

  1. What are the required scores for direct admission to AU?

    Minimum Admission Criteria

    One of the Following English Assessment Tests

    TOEFL iBT 80
    TOEFL CBT 213
    IELTS 6.5

    And all of the following depending on the educational system:
    HS percentage/GPA 98%
    Tahseely 89

  2. What are the required scores for admission to UPP?

    Minimum Admission Criteria
    HS percentage/GPA 85%
    Tahseely 62
    Qudurat 73

    And One of the Following English Assessment Tests
    TOEFL Paper 425
    TOEFL iBT 38
    TOEFL CBT 113
    IELTS 3.5

  3. When a student completes the UPP and transfer to Alfaisal University, can he change his major or college?
    Yes, but he must meet all criteria applicable to the major or college prior to acceptance.

  4. Where do I get the Admission Application?
    Please download the admission application form from www.alfaisal.edu. Complete the form and send it to the Alfaisal University Office of Admissions at: P.O. Box 50927, Riyadh 11533 OR bring it to the Alfaisal University Office of Admissions in the King Faisal Foundation building, South Tower in the ground floor. We are open from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM, Saturday through Wednesday.


  5. What is the deadline for admission?
    The deadline for early admission is July 15th. However, we encourage all interested students to apply well before the deadline date. Students who apply by the July 15th deadline will have the opportunity to participate in the university orientation program. Late applications for admission will continue to be accepted through first week of classes.


  6. When do I register to enroll in classes?
    Students will register for classes during their orientation sessions. Orientation is scheduled after students have been accepted for admission. For students who are accepted late and miss orientation, an academic advisor will assist in registration.

Campus Tour

  1. Can we visit the Alfaisal University Campus?
    The campus is under construction at the moment, but if you call Admissions at (+9661 461 3677) we will be pleased to arrange a limited tour in the safe construction areas of the campus grounds. Tuition & Fees

  1. What are the fees for Alfaisal University?
    The fees are SR 94,000 per year for tuition and SR 1500 for the application (non-refundable). Click here for information on additional fees.


  2. Are the fees different for the different colleges?
    No, tuition and fees are the same for each college.

Female Student

  1. When will female students be able to enroll at Alfaisal University?
    Hopefully, female students will be admitted in the near future. There are still quite a few logistics to be considered and finalized before we can admit women. At this time we don’t have a definite date.

Graduate Studies

  1. When will advanced degrees (Master’s and Doctorate’s) be offered at Alfaisal University?
    Alfaisal plans to begin offering advanced degrees in the next two years.

Housing

  1. Will you offer housing?
    Resident dormitories are planned but not yet under construction; however, when built, they are designed for our female students. At that time, the costs of dormitory living will be determined and it will be in addition to the tuition. We will provide lists of apartments students may consider for their accommodations.

Programs

  1. Is it true that Alfaisal University will open in 2008?
    Yes. Alfaisal University will begin its 1st class of freshmen in October 2008. Three of the four colleges will begin their programs at that time. Medicine, Engineering and Business will begin their programs in October 2008, and Science will begin its program in the Fall of 2009.

  2. What are the specialties that each college will begin with in 2008?

    The College of Engineering:
    Aerospace Engineering
    Mechanical/Industrial Engineering


    The College of Business:
    Business Technology
    Project Management
    Engineering Management


    The College of Medicine:
    A six year program leading to an MBBS degree (Medical Bachelor and Bachelor of Surgery)

    The College of Science:
    Genetics and Life Science (Biotechnology)[2009]


  3. Will Alfaisal University be like other universities in the Kingdom?
    NO. Alfaisal’s programs are modeled after programs taught in the West, such as the United States and the United Kingdom. Our programs consist of student-based learning, with emphasis on problem-solving, critical thinking, and team approaches.

  4. Will students receive help to get good jobs after completing their degrees at Alfaisal?
    YES. Assistance with finding jobs will be provided through our founders, partners, and incubator companies and with the assistance of our Career Counseling Department.

  5. Is the number of years a student has to finish at the college of engineering at Alfaisal different according to engineering majors?
    No. All students will be able to complete in 5 years if they are enrolled full time and follow the planned curriculum.

Scholarships

  1. Will Alfaisal offer scholarships?
    Yes. We will offer scholarships for undergraduate students funded by Alfaisal University, the Ministry of Higher Education, King Faisal Foundation, corporations, businesses and affluent community members with the desire to promote higher learning.


  2. How do apply for a scholarship?
    Please download the scholarship forms and complete the English versions and submit them to the Scholarships/Financial Aid office.


  3. If a student has a GPA of 4 out of 4 at the UPP, is there any possibility that he can get a scholarship at Alfaisal?
    Yes, Students who achieve high GPAs have excellent opportunities for scholarships and we encourage them to apply.

Transfer student

  1. What are the rules of student transfer at Alfaisal?
    Alfaisal will not accept transfer students during its first year of operation. Students who have earned college credit the first year will need upper level coursework that will not be offered during that time period. There may be rare instances where a transfer is possible due to unusual circumstances. These will be considered on a case-by-case basis and only if the applicant meets all other admissions criteria. The initial rules of transfer will be developed in the coming year.
