Introduction:

Alfaisal University Web Services is responsible for managing all web developments in coordination with different departments and services. Below are the key functions:

Design and develop required web pages;
Provide on going technical support to manage and maintain the contents;
Lead and manage new web projects for university wide activities; and
Analyze website access and usage to generate statistical reports for performance enhancement.

Approach:

Alfaisal University Web Services follows three basic steps to manage and implement web based projects, as shown schematically below. Basic tasks of each step are:

Define:

Analyze business requirement;
Agree on the scope, target audience(s), schedule, and resources;
Evaluate the contents; and
Develop a preliminary site map.

Design:

Confirm the site map and information architecture;
Develop and refine the visual identity for the whole site;
Refine contents in coordination with author(s); and
Fine tune design options for better accessibility and usability;

Develop:

Build a prototype of the approved design;
Consolidate and integrate website contents;
Discuss and approve the final design and contents; and
Launch the new site and archive the old.
