IT Management and Compliance

IT management and compliance is the central department within Alfaisal University IT Services, responsible for developing and supporting IT Governance framework to manage offered IT Services. The Governance framework is based on international known standards, best practices, and frameworks. The list below gives high-level description of each area covered by this framework.

Quality Service Delivery and Support:

Alfaisal University IT Services constantly review its processes for improvement of service quality. The ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) framework was selected to achieve this objective. ITIL will be implemented in a phased approach with holistic view of all other and integrated solutions.

IT Governance and Control:

In order to provide required information to all employees to achieve university objectives, IT Services will deploy IT controls managed by a set of naturally grouped processes. The framework selected is for this objective is Cobit (Control Objectives for Information and Related Technology). In addition to compliance with best practices, this will align IT with Alfaisal’s Strategy which can lead to cost reduction and improved quality of the process outputs.

Information Security:

In modern information era, the most valuable asset of any organization is the information. Losing controls over information security may results in a catastrophic impact on business operations and growth. Alfaisal University is investing in successful implementation of security policies, procedures, processes and controls to provide requires security level for its information. ISO 27001 standard is used to achieve this objective. Furthermore, on-going audit of IT management processes and controls with analysis of KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) achievements can help maintaining compliance with this standard and early identification of security concerns.

Effective Project Management:

Managing multiple projects could be difficult and requires well structured methodologies and approaches. Alfaisal University is developing an effective program management approach tailored to its needs and types of projects based on international standards and methodology as per the PMI (Project Management Institute). This was facilitated through appointment of international consulting firm to help with the setup of PMO (Program Management Office). PMO helps in planning, organizing, and managing resources to bring about the successful completion of expected goals and objectives from all concurrently running projects.
