Terry
Motiuk, PhD, MBA, CMA, CGA
Vice President for Finance and Administration
Dr. Terry Motiuk joined Alfaisal University in the fall of 2007 and is
responsible for all the support services including facilities, human resources,
finance, procurement, information technology, public relations, marketing, and
office administration.
Prior to this Dr. Motiuk was a Harvard employee working with Harvard Medical
International as part of the landed team in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to
develop the Center for Healthcare Planning and Quality associated with the Dubai
Healthcare City development project.
Dr. Motiuk received his Masters degree in business administration from Heriot-Watt
University in Edinburgh Scotland, followed by a PhD in Business Administration
(specializing in strategic planning in education). Prior to this Terry earned
two professional accounting designations in Canada: Certified General Accountant
(CGA), and Certified Management Accountant (CMA).
Terry Motiuk’s professional experience has spanned over 30 years. His health
care experience has been at various levels of governance and administration:
government, regional and in hospitals. He also has had extensive work
experiences in the education, public accounting and legal system fields, both in
the private and public sectors. He has spent 11 years as a business instructor
at several different universities and colleges where he developed courses,
delivered lectures, facilitated workshops, and developed and marked national
accounting exams.
He specializes in startups/setups of new organizations. Combining both a public
perspective of accountability and client focus, with the private sector
mentality of being practical and bottom line driven, enables Dr. Motiuk to bring
the best of both worlds in planning and decision making.
Dr. Motiuk was in Qatar being instrumental in the development of a unique higher
education model, called Education City under the Qatar Foundation. Elite US
research-based universities have established branch campuses offering the same
quality and degrees as the mother university for a particular program. In
addition, he was the project manager in the development of a US model Academic
Medical Hospital into the implementation stage.
Besides being a member of various accounting and auditing professional
associations, Dr. Motiuk has been a Board of Director of an investment company,
and has served on numerous finance committees and advisory boards. He has been
actively involved in community services, including Junior Achievement, and Boy
Scouts. He volunteered for two years in the Philippines to provide humanitarian
services.
