Dr. Ala Al Bakri Ala Al Bakri, PhD, PE & Professor
Vice Provost for Accreditation and Quality Assurance

Dr. Ala A. Al Bakri joined Alfaisal University in February, 2008 and is responsible for Accreditation and Quality Assurance.

Professor Ala received his BS, MS, and Ph.D. in Engineering from the University of Iowa in Iowa City.

Professor Al Bakri has more than 25 years of professional and academic experience at several institutions. His experience includes higher education management, teaching, and research in US, Canadian and Middle Eastern Universities. His expertise is in the areas of Engineering Management, Transportation Engineering and Quality Assurance. Prior to joining Alfaisal University, Professor Ala was the founding Academic Dean of The University Preparatory Program (UPP) for Alfaisal University.

Starting his career in teaching profession in the US in 1986 as a lecturer, Professor Ala worked his way to the rank of Professor through working at several academic institutions which included The University of California, Berkeley, The University of Wisconsin, and the University of Iowa. He also worked at Carleton University in Canada. His Middle East experience included Mutta and Jordan Universities. Dr. Al Bakri also worked as an Associate Dean and an acting Dean at NAUSS University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

His non-academic experience includes engineering design and consulting at JEC-Stanley Consultant and later as a Project Manager in 1983. Dr. Al Bakri established the Group of Consulting and Training International Centers (GCTIC) with branches in several countries which includes the California based American Consulting and Training Center (ACTC), the Emirates American Consulting and Training Center (EACTC), the Jordanian Consulting and Training Center (JECTCC), The Canadian Consulting and Training Center (CCTC) and The London based European Consulting and Training Center (ECTC). He was the founding President of GCTIC group and the Chairman of the Board of Directors.

Having spent more 25 years in academic and non-academic environment with various universities in North America and the Middle East, his immense experience and dynamic qualities is a true asset to Alfaisal University.
