Easy Steps to Follow when Applying for the Alfaisal Scholarships Program

  1. Apply for admission and be accepted into the University Preparatory Program or Alfaisal University if you are a New Student, or be a UPP graduated student transitioning to Alfaisal University or enrolled student at the University,
  2. Download and complete the Scholarship Application Form accurately.
  3. Attach all the required supporting documents to your completed application
  4. Submit your completed file before the deadline date by mail, or personally to:

1.0 TYPES OF SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE:

Alfaisal University scholarships are available for students who seek an undergraduate degree at Alfaisal University according to scholarship policies and conditions. Moreover, students will be assigned one of the following classifications.


1.1. Merit-based Scholarships

Every year Merit-based scholarships will be granted partially to cover (100%, 70%, or 50%) of the tuition, and awarded to academically outstanding students. This is financial aid for which financial need is not used to determine the recipients. The recipients may be determined by students’ athletic, academic, artistic or other abilities.

 

Scholarships available under this category are granted by Alfaisal University:


Merit-based scholarships eligibility criteria:

  • Outstanding academic achievement
  • Personal and career goals and objectives
  • List of achievements and awards received
  • Letters of Recommendation

1.2. Need-based Scholarships


Every year these scholarships will be granted partially to full scholarships to cover (100%, 70%, or 50%) of the tuition and awarded based on the need of the students; contingent upon the fulfillment of the eligibility criteria initiated by the University that combines the family financial need and the students’ academic achievements. This is financial aid for which the students’ academic and family’s financial situation is a primary factor in determining the recipients.

 

Scholarships available under this category are granted by KING FAISAL FOUNDATION, " Prince Sultan Scholarship Program":

 

Need-based scholarships eligibility criteria:

  • Family members’ financial and employment Status
  • Outstanding academic achievement
  • Letters of Recommendation

1.3. Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) Scholarships


Every year the Ministry of Higher Education provides a number of scholarships which is up to 50% of the total number of students in Alfaisal University. These scholarships are offered to applicants who completed secondary school with an average of 85% and above, and passed the Capabilities Tests (Tahseely and Qudurat) with no less than 65%, or students who are already enrolled in the University and finished one academic term with an average of not less than 2.75. MoHE scholarships eligibility criteria:

  • Acceptance into the University Preparatory Program, graduates of the UPP transitioning to Alfaisal University, or acceptance as a direct admission into Alfaisal University.
  • Saudi national.
  • Be of good conduct.
  • Field of study must be one of the specified fields in the University.
  • Must obtain the average specified for the partial or full scholarship.
  • Must not exceed the minimum period for obtaining the degree.
  • Study must be on regular (fulltime) basis.
  • Be one of the top 50% of the total number of students in the University.

1.4. Private Grant Scholarships


These scholarships are provided by individual donors and utilized by the scholarship program to fund in full or partially need-based and/or merit-based students in accordance with the criteria set forth by the private donor and in cooperation with the recommendations agreed upon the Scholarship Awards Committee.


Scholarships available under this category are granted by:

  • AlRajhi Investment Fund (Sheikh Abdulrahman Bin AbdulAziz AlRajhi)
  • Sheikh Abdulaziz Bin Ali Alshowaier
  • Sheikh Mohammed AlAbdulkareem Al-Lohaidan

1.5. Deans List Scholarships


These scholarships are available for students who have achieved a minimum GPA of 3.75 / 4.0 in the first year of study at one of the Alfaisal University colleges and they cover up to 20 % of a student’s tuition fees.

2.0 Duration Of Scholarship

The student must maintain scholarship requirements throughout his study to sustain the scholarship. The scholarship will continue until the student graduates from Alfaisal University and will cover:

  • One year at the University Preparatory Program.
  • Four years at the College of Engineering, Business, or Science.
  • Five years at the College of Medicine.

3.0 Change Of Specialization

The student is not permitted to change his major without approval from the Academic Dean of the concerned college, the recommendation of the Scholarship Awards Committee and approval by the Director of the Office of Scholarship and Financial Assistance. 


4.0 Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy

To remain eligible for Alfaisal scholarships, student must:

  1. Complete all required courses each semester as stipulated in the academic plan of the college; and
  2. Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher; and
  3. Complete courses at an overall rate which will ensure graduation within the recommended timeframe;
  4. Complete any incomplete (I) courses in a timely manner;
  5. Graduate within the recommended timeframe specific for student’s degree program;
  6. Maintain academic standing, usually a specific term and cumulative Grade Point Average, consistent with Alfaisal University academic policy.
  7. The maximum allowed time may be re-evaluated by the Director of Scholarship and Financial Assistance. Exceptions may be made with the approval of the Registrar if there are program changes eliminate prior courses and they no longer apply toward the new degree program.
  8. Incomplete grades - student receive too many incomplete grades (I) and do not progress satisfactorily. As a result, student has six or more hours of incomplete in any term or at any time will be placed on Financial Assistance probation for the next term of attendance and expected to complete the courses with "I" grades by the end of that term. Longer periods of probation may be granted on a case-by-case basis with coordination between student and the Dean of the College and the Instructor.
  9. Grade point average (GPA) – student must maintain scholastic standing, grades, and Grade Point Averages as defined in the appropriate year catalog. If student suspended for unacceptable scholastic/academic progress as defined in Alfaisal University regulations and is, therefore, also suspended from Financial Assistance. If readmitted or reinstated, student may apply to receive Financial Assistance during probation any term.
  10. Ministry of Higher Education Scholarships, student must remain among the top 50% of students in each college, which will be updated annually by the Office of Scholarship and Financial Assistance as per the regulations of the Ministry of Higher Education.

5.0 Termination Of Scholarship

The Office of Scholarship and Financial Assistance may terminate the student’s scholarship on the recommendation of the department, college and the Scholarship Committee under the following conditions:

  1. Unsatisfactory academic progress according to Point 4.
  2. Personal or disciplinary issues that prevent continued attendance as reported by the Dean of Admission and Registration.
  3. Voluntary termination of the scholarship and withdrawal from the University.

6.0 Application Deadline Date

The deadline date for receiving completed applications for scholarships is August 14, 2010. No application will be accepted after the deadline date.
