The College of Engineering at Alfaisal University visited Alsalam Aircraft
Company located at the Industrial Park in King Khalid International Airport,
Riyadh. This visit on the 1st of June 2010, was aimed at consolidating our
efforts to engage industry with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and was
attended by the College of Engineering staff and students.

Component Section of Alsalam Company
This visit gave an opportunity to the students to get first hand information
about the operations conducted, tools employed, and challenges faced by the
aircraft industry. The students & faculty were well received by the staff at
Alsalam and were given a tour of the Engineering Design, Thermoforming, Non
Destructive Testing, Moulding Sections and Aircraft Maintenance hangars. The
Manager for Planning and Production Control Mr. Peter J. Cooke explained to
the students about the operations, support services, products and testing
undertaken at the company.
Our Engineering Students and Faculty were very impressed with the technical
know-how and skills of staff at Alsalam. In particular, our students were
able to appreciate the complex diversity of various engineering
knowledge-bases being applied to the maintenance of aircrafts.
Alsalam Aircraft Company provides comprehensive technical services to
operators of wide body and narrow body commercial aircraft, business jets
and VIP aircraft from its state-of-the-art facilities. These services
include maintenance and modifications, system upgrades, aircraft painting,
and VIP aircraft interior design and refurbishments.

This visit exemplifies the practice at the College of Engineering to provide
hands on industry exposure to students in order to produce Graduates who are
prudent to the Industrial practices and needs.
