Research Interests:

  • Natural product pharmacology:
    • Despite extensive research in understanding disease processes and treatment options, diseases like cancers, hepatitis B & C, HIV/AIDS still pose therapeutic challenges to the researchers. Modern medicine offers suboptimal treatment options for these disorders, considering efficacy and compliance. The situation urges researchers to look for treatment options in other therapeutic modalities. Herbal medicine is an established therapeutic modality for ages. In the last three decades scientific data behind herbal medicine has developed from infancy to adolescent, though extensive work is still needed in many areas. My interest is in identifying and validating therapies for hepatitis from herbal medicine, as well as to screen for newer plants.
  • Medical Education:
    • Involved in developing innovative, student centered, PBL based curriculum according to local population needs, implementation of related and appropriate learning strategies, planning and implementing effective and appropriate assessment /feedback system
