Mattheus (Theo) F. A. Goosen, Ph.D.

Curriculum Vitae

Dr. Goosen joined Alfaisal University in March 2008 and currently serves as Associate Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies. Previously he held the position of Campus Dean (CAO) at the New York Institute of Technology in Amman, Jordan. Dr. Goosen has also held the position of Dean of the School of Science and Technology at the Universidad del Turabo in Puerto Rico, USA, and Dean of Engineering as well as Dean of Agricultural & Marine Sciences at the Sultan Qaboos University in Muscat, Oman. He has been on the Board of Directors of two companies.

He obtained his doctoral degree in Chemical/Biomedical Engineering from the University of Toronto, Canada, in 1981. After graduation he spent three years as a post doc at Connaught Laboratories in Toronto and then ten years at Queen’s University in Kingston Canada in the Department of Chemical Engineering.

Dr. Goosen has published extensively with over 150 refereed papers, book chapters, books, and patents to his credit. His research interests are in the areas of water purification and treatment, bioengineering, membrane technology, and environmental management and sustainable development.
