Professor Ahmad Sulaiman Bin-Obaid is an economist with consulting, research and teaching experiences in labor economics, macroeconomics, regional and urban economics, and the economies of Saudi Arabia and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries. He has assumed different academic leading positions at King Saud University in the past. He was the Chair of the economic department for two terms, the vice dean for KSU graduate studies for another two terms, and the dean of the same post. He has also been the head and member of several academic and administrative committees at KSU.

Professor Ahmad has worked fulltime as the director for finance and administration for the International Energy Forum (IEF). He provided consulting services to the Saudi Ministry of Finance and National Economy, to Riyadh Chamber of Commerce, to Saudi Chamber of Commerce Council, to ArRiyadh Development Authority, to Madinah Development Authority, to Alrajhi Bank, to the Gulf Cooperation Council Secretariats (GCCS), to the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), and other private organizations and universities. Professor Ahmad received his BA in Economics from King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and M.A. and Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, USA. He is a tenured Professor in the Department of Economics at King Saud University, Saudi Arabia.

He has many scientific economic papers published in refereed academic journals to his credit. Professor Ahmad supervised several M.A. theses, and his students are now well placed in the academia, government and private sectors. He is now the editor-in-chief of The Economic Studies Journal, and the editor-in-Chief of Saudi Economic Journal. Professor Ahmad has published a book in Labor Economic (Arabic) along with articles in refereed academic journals. As a frequent traveler, Professor Ahmad has presented many research papers at professional conferences.
